2026 Tesla Model 3 (Highland)

The Tesla Model 3 remains the volume sedan benchmark Canadian buyers measure every premium EV against, and the 2026 Highland refresh keeps it ahead of the Polestar 2, BMW i4, and Mercedes EQE on charging speed, software, and the depreciation curve that matters more than the spec sheet. The Highland version brings a quieter cabin, suspension recalibration aimed at Canadian road conditions, and a starting MSRP that still anchors the segment.

Canadian pricing as of June 2026: Model 3 RWD at $39,490 CAD and Performance at $74,990. The Long Range AWD was pulled from the Canadian configurator around May 2026, leaving a two-trim lineup. Here's the catch buyers miss: no Model 3 trim qualifies for the federal EVAP $5,000 rebate, and for two different reasons. The $39,490 RWD is built at Giga Shanghai, so it's excluded under EVAP's Chinese-manufacture rule even though its price sits well under the $50,000 cap; the Fremont-built Performance is above the cap. The old iZEV program that some trims once qualified for closed in March 2025. So the Model 3's case in Canada is pure sticker — and at $39,490 the RWD is the cheapest Tesla ever sold here, rebate or not.

The Model 3's depreciation curve is the unsung argument for buying one. Three-year-old Highland Model 3s are holding 72-78% of original sticker on private resale, well above the 60-65% median for premium-segment EVs. That residual value flows directly into the five-year cost-of-ownership math the buying decision actually turns on.
