2026 Hyundai Ioniq 6

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 owns the longest range of any Canadian-sold EV under $60,000 CAD as of May 2026, and the 2026 model year refresh tightens that lead. The Long Range RWD trim claims 581 km on the WLTP cycle — a number that reflects the Ioniq 6's drag coefficient of 0.21 rather than a brute-force battery upgrade. (Note: the "SE Standard Range" and "SE Long Range" names are US-market trims; the Canadian 2026 lineup is the Preferred Long Range in RWD and AWD.) The AWD trim adds a second motor and trims the range to roughly 500 km.

Canadian pricing as of June 2026: Ioniq 6 Preferred Long Range RWD at $54,999 CAD and Preferred Long Range AWD at $58,399. Here's the rebate reality: the Ioniq 6 does not qualify for the federal EVAP $5,000 rebate. It isn't on Transport Canada's EVAP eligible-vehicle list, and at $54,999 the entry trim sits above the $50,000 final-transaction cap. (Watch for dealer ads that bundle a Hyundai manufacturer discount with the EVAP name — the federal rebate itself does not apply here.) Under the old iZEV $80K-MSRP ceiling the Ioniq 6 qualified; under EVAP's tighter $50K final-transaction rule it no longer does.

The Ioniq 6's 800V architecture supports DC fast charging at up to 233 kW, taking the pack from 10-80% in 18 minutes on a sufficiently fast charger. That's the fastest charging curve sold in Canada in this price band, and the practical implication is that a Toronto-Ottawa run on the 401 needs one 15-minute stop rather than the 25-30 minutes a typical 400V Canadian EV requires.
