2026 Volkswagen ID.4
$48,495$43,495 after EVAP

The Volkswagen ID.4 is the quietest competent EV in the Canadian compact-SUV segment, and the 2026 model year strengthens that case without changing it. The Pro trim ships with a 77 kWh pack, 540 km claimed range on the WLTP cycle, and rear-wheel drive that returns better real-world efficiency than the AWD trim across most of Canada's road conditions. The Pro S AWD adds an electric motor at the front and adjusts the suspension for the Canadian winter use case.
Canadian pricing as of June 2026: ID.4 Base RWD at $48,495 CAD, Pro RWD at $52,995, Pro S RWD at $55,495, and Pro S AWD at $59,160. Only the Base RWD qualifies for the federal EVAP $5,000 rebate — and only just: at $48,495 it clears the $50,000 final-transaction cap by barely $1,500, so a few dealer accessories can push a deal over the line and void the rebate. Confirm the final transaction value before counting on it. Every trim from the Pro up is above the cap and excluded. Quebec's provincial rebate (now $2,000, down from the old $7,000 Roulez Vert) can still stack on an eligible Base; BC's program is currently paused.
The ID.4's case in Canada is build quality and warranty. VW's 8-year/160,000 km battery warranty applies the same coverage stack the company runs in Europe, and the Pro trim's heat pump as standard means the kind of -25°C range hit that plagues lower-trim Canadian EVs doesn't materialize. Real-world Pacific Northwest and Ontario reports put winter range loss in the 18-24% band rather than the 30%+ that has dogged other compact SUVs.
